FC Barcelona was founded in 1899 by Joan Gamper, a Swiss, who decided to introduce football to Barcelona by creating a team. The club was officially founded on November 29, 1899. The club’s first trophy was the Copa Macaya (Catalan Championship) in 1902, and in 1910 Barça won the Copa del Rey for the first time. Barça grew from strength to strength. Over the years, the club has won 26 La Liga, 31 Copa del Rey, 13 Spanish Super Cup, 5 Championships, etc.
One of the characteristics of Barça that undoubtedly contributes to the local popularity and widespread support for the team is the fact that the club is one of the few in the world that is member-owned. The club’s history, its broader cultural symbolism and its record-breaking performance over the years have certainly earned it a place among the few great sports teams of all time.
This season 2023-2024, FCB will play in the Olympic stadium of Montjuic, since the Camp Nou is being renovated.
